loving summer hours

Posted by Jake Good

So at work, we have this thing called “Summer Hours.” Lots of corporate places have them… some get the benefits for free, others have a shift in hours.

Here’s how our’s works.

Monday through Thursday - 9 hour days

Every other Friday - Rotate between 8 hour day and 8 hour time off.

It’s nice. We get every other Friday “off” for free, as in I work the extra hours from the Friday off during the 2 week period.

It’s still better than nothing… for example, this week. 3 Day week with Memorial Day off! w00t!

humor for Friday

Since I haven’t blogged that much lately (due to busy life)… I thought I’d let you guys in on some good humor I’ve found recently stumbling through the web…

First off, there’s a new feature in MacBooks that has a swift motion sensing device which you can utilize in your applications… So naturally, a tribute to the Star Wars Kid was inevitable…

Hilarious.

Next up, a new product from Philips called the Body Groom.

Good shit.

What else is there? How about a funny little emo kid video:

Anyone see the new Clerks 2 trailer?

Do you really think you know her?

The classic Carlton dance:

I think that’ll do it for today… everyone have a safe and wonderful weekend!

Guitar Heroes

This last weekend marked an exciting time in Chanhassen… as it was invaded by an entire group of Guitar Heroes

Tom Johnson, Leonard Bronson, Keya J, Big Mac, and myself all rocked out on Guitar Hero.

Check out the Duel Guitar Hero action (Tom and Leonard):

duels

Let’s just say that TWO guitars brings out a whole other side to the game…

About the weekend though: lunch at Maynards on the lake… stop by the MoA… dinner at Bar Abeline… drinks at the Peanut Bar… and a nightcap, featuring whiskey and vodka playing… you guessed it… Guitar Heroes

Great weekend!

Thoughts on WMP11 Beta with URGE

Posted by Jake Good
on May 17, 06

So I heard through the grapevines that Microsoft was going to release a super cool Napster challenger… called URGE. It has an all you can eat for $9.99 and all you can eat + mobile for $14.99. Exact same as Napster

The day has come… with the release of Windows Media Player 11 Beta, URGE is now integrated.

My thoughts…

It looks sweet… here’s the intro screen. Slightly cluttered. Click on the photos and check out my notes on Flickr.

Windows Media Player 11 Beta (URGE)

kinda tight.

The ONE problem I have is that some controls feel like they are in URGE and some controls feel like they are in WMP. It’s supposed to be an integrated experience…

Windows Media Player 11 Beta (URGE) Clutter

very cluttered

Overall it will take some time to play around. I have accounts on all of the major music services but still go with iTunes for my purchases.

I’d never though I’d say this… ever, but I bought a Playstation 2 and Guitar Hero.

:: sigh ::

The benefits of Guitar Hero are well worth the price of just buying the console for that one game (and it’s sequel due out soon).

Loving it.

Sorry but I had to

Tobias L. - you get 10 years for copying a madonna CD. By the way, you only get 7
years if you punch her in the face

Here are a few more that I have found recently…

Ruby Goldberg Animation (NES Style):

Looks like ARod needs to get some booty, he’s resorting to baseball bats:

Kind of wish I had a MacMini or Power Book Pro 17” for this kind of stuff:
